What We Believe.

Statement of Faith

WE BELIEVE the Bible is Scripture and is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for everyday work.

WE BELIEVE there is one living and true God ("'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one," Deuteronomy 6:6; "I (Jesus) and the Father (God) are one," John 10:22-30), eternally existing, created all, upholds all and governs all; "For in Him (Jesus, the Messiah/Christ) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily," Colossians 2:9; "He (Jesus, the Messiah/Christ) is the image of the invisible God . . . And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together," Colossians 1:15-17. "For to us a child (Jesus, the Messiah/Christ) is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace," Isaiah 9:6. "This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by the builders, which has become the cornerstone (Ps 118:22). And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved," Acts 4:12.

WE BELIEVE in God the Father, an infinite personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to him through his Son, Jesus Christ, the Lord.

WE BELIEVE in our Lord Jesus Christ that He is the only begotten Son of God, has come in the flesh, being born of a virgin; that He lived a sinless life, was attested to by God with miracles, wonders and signs which God performed through Him; suffered, was crucified, died for our sins, and was buried; that God raised Him from the dead on the third day, that He ascended into heaven where He is seated at the right hand of the Father, where He makes intersession for His people; that He will judge the living and the dead, make a personal, visible return to earth, and deliver up the kingdom to His Father after He has abolished all rule, authority and power. "I (Jesus, the Messiah/Christ) and the Father (God) are one," John 10:22-30.

WE BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower for ministry all who have faith in Christ; that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is their abiding helper, teacher and guide, and He gives them spiritual gifts. "Now the Lord is the Spirit," 2 Corinthians 3:17.

WE BELIEVE all people are sinners by nature and by choice and therefore are under condemnation; that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit (“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation” 2 Corinthians 5:17-18), those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord; that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit and power for service (“And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules,” Ezekiel 36:26-27).

WE BELIEVE the Church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Holy Spirit, a living, spiritual body; that all regenerated persons are its members and are to be submitted to the will and authority of their head the Lord Jesus Christ, to hear and obey his voice.

WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the Church:

  1. WATER BAPTISM by immersion if possible, is extended to all who repent and believe that Jesus is their Lord and Christ. In so doing they declare to the world that they have been raised with Him to walk in newness of life.
  2. HOLY COMMUNION is extended to all believers who have first examined themselves. In eating the bread and drinking the cup they proclaim His death until He comes.

WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ assigned the “Great Commission” to the Church. At the heart of the Great Commission is the imperative to make disciples. It was Jesus’ full time occupation from the day He entered ministry at His baptism until He ascended into heaven. During His 3½ years of ministry, Jesus modeled the process of making disciples and then commanded all those who had followed Him to do likewise. His discipleship process involves five steps. They are:

1.     STAY in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.

2.     GO into all the world.

3.     PREACH repentance for the forgiveness of sins in Jesus name.

4.     BAPTIZE those who believe the message … in the name of Jesus.

5.     TEACH those who have been baptized to observe all that Jesus commanded His disciples to do.

Our Purpose

The driving force behind the Springs of Living Water is to help reawaken the Church (God’s people) to His desires for it … rather than what men have made it to be.

As Christians, we are all responsible to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
  • There is only one Vision for the Church … it is God’s vision … that we are to become like His son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • There is only one Ministry the Church is to perform … it is God’s ministry … which is to reconcile people to Himself.
  • There is only one Mission the Church is to accomplish … it is God’s “great commission” (something we are to do in conjunction with Him) … that is to make disciples.
  • And, there is only one Strategy the Church is to use to accomplish God’s vision, ministry and mission … it is God’s strategy … which is to:
    • Be empowered by the Holy Spirit.
    • Go into all the world.
    • Preach the message of forgiveness of sins in Jesus name.
    • Baptize those who have believed the message.
    • Teach those who have been baptized to observe everything that Jesus commanded them to do.

In order to accomplish His Work … God has given us:
  • His Authority … to accomplish the vision, ministry and mission.
  • His Power … the Holy Spirit.
  • His Glory … the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
  • His Tools … the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
  • His Equippers … apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.
